|
This date and time information is sucked off your own Computer. If the date or time is wrong on your computer, the calculation will obviously likewise be wrong. Please rely on your own good sense to get your applications to the Trial Secretary in time. Remember that the Mail process may take a couple of days to get your application to the Centre of the Universe out here at Warragul.
| Navigation is easy.
You start at the top and will find your way here by clicking on "Navigation". You can get back to the very top of the page from here;
"NEXT" will bounce you to the paragraph directly below. Spaced about the place are "NAVIGATE" links, which bring you right back here.
|
|
You can just scroll yourself up and down the page as a final resort. Links are underlined Red, with Red & Black text (Club colours are Red and Black). This page works well with IE and Netscape. The interactive buttons here will take you wherever you want, within this page. If your browser doesn't support the very smart little Java Applet that produces the button list, (Cute huh!) you can just scroll up and down the page. It is a contiguous bunch of paragraphs chock full of interesting reading.

Want to know more about Agility and/or Jumps Trials?
Agility and Jumps Trials occur throughout the State on a regular basis. The Victorian Canine Association website is a resource which might give you some information about trials scheduled near you. You must be a VCA member to compete in these events and your dog must be registered with them, either as a pedigreed pure bred dog or as an Associate dog (Heinz variety, or pure bred but with no registration papers).
There is a private organisation known as Australian Dog Agility Council (ADAC), who conduct trials along similar lines. You must join ADAC to compete in their trials. You can join ADAC on the day you compete at their Trial.
Want to know more about the Club?
If you use the link above in the navigation panel, you will be sent to the Club's general website. The Club conducts a Dog Show on Labour Day each Year and now conducts Agility and Jumping Trials. At the Club's facility at Darnum we train for Obedience related events, Flyball, Tracking and working dogs can learn Herding skills. The Club is presently involved in building our own rooms at the Darnum Grounds. New members are always welcome. We train at Darnum each Sunday from 9.00am onwards. Come join us.
NOW, here's what you've all been waiting for.......................THE TRIAL DETAILS.

The Club will accept electronic entries in accordance with strict guidelines. CLICK HERE for more information.
For normal snail mail entries, the entry mail address is listed below.
|
The Trial Secretary C/- PO Box xxxx WARRAGUL VIC 3820 |
Normal stuff Blah Blah Blah (don't get it wrong!)
Separate entry form per Dog, per Class, per Trial.
Entries to be clearly marked with the trial identification, A, B, C or D, Agility, Jumping or Game per Trial.
Height, marked 200, 300, 400, 500 or 600 on all entry forms.
Competitors to bring official height card.
Two separate entry forms to be provided for Strategic pairs - to be mailed, paired together with the other team members entry form.
PLEASE NOTE One entry fee covers both dogs in this Games Class
All Titles to be clearly marked on all entry forms.
Only one round per entry in each ring.

Secretaries often have to contend with improperly completed application forms! Please take note of the completed example below. Make a legend of yourself. There's nothing better than knowing that the Secretary is sitting looking out of his or her office and thinking "there's that nice competitor who filled out their entry form properly".

DO's and DON'T's
| DO | WHY |
| Fill out your form completely. Leave no blank spaces. | Somebody has to pay for the phone call's to sort out the stuff up. Usually it's our Secretary who looses on the deal. |
| Get it to us on time | No fun for anyone if we mail it back because entries have closed. You miss the trial - we loose the entry. |
| Spell your dog's name right. | You will be annoyed when the documentation you get back after a trial has the wrong name on it! And while we're at it......have a read of the VCA rules on the correct way to present your dog's name, titles and references to countries of origin in your application form. |
| Get the money bit filled out properly | Someone, often called "The Treasurer", has to account for the money. Be aware that the Treasurer may be a large unsightly man with an ugly disposition and he may come looking for you! |
| Are you a member of a Club? Tell us. | There may be something in it for you. The Trial Secretary is not Psychic. She is a Psychopath. |
| Sign the thing | Because you must! It's the rules! |
| Have your dog measured and give us the "H.A.S" Class - 200, 300, 400, 500 or 600. Bring your card! | Very embarrassing for you if you enter in the wrong class and somebody fronts us about it. |
| DON'T | WHY |
| Don't forget to send the money | Remember the bit about the Treasurer? |
| Don't use an 80 year old envelope | We want to receive the application form, not the remains of the envelope. Seal the envelope while you're at it. |
| Don't dip a chook in an inkwell and use that to fill out the form. | MY handwriting is worse than yours. I can read mine but I may not be able to read yours. Make an effort to be legible. |
| Don't complain to me if you make a rod for your own back. | Tell someone who cares. |

Do you want to enter but don't have an entry form? Download one here.

pdf files or "portable document format", are a type of file created to allow easy transfer of documents in a manner that can't be altered at the receive end. The software needed to create the file is something you have to pay for, but the company who market this format wants everyone to be able to read it (more people will buy the pdf writing software), so they offer the pdf reader for free. All you have to do is download and install this pdf reader to be able to use files sent to you in this format. Click on the link on the above to download the Adobe Reader software.

If you print off this form, be advised that the reproduced form MUST be the same size as an original document (it's in the Rules). That is, 256 mm wide and 86 mm high. You have no idea how cranky the Secretary gets when they receive an application form that look like it has been cut out of a recycled newspaper with a tomahawk, half an inch wider than it should be, crooked and hard to read anyway. Please keep the Secretary off my back.

Each trial is a separate entity. Entry fees are the same for each trial.
The entry fee for this years trials has been set at $7.00 per entry, per dog, which includes all of the anticipated VCA levies, surcharges, licences and other impositions.
Strategic Pairs - Entry fee is $10.00 per team. Please staple the 2 forms together and send to the Club.
A catalogue purchase is included with the first entry. Additional catalogues are available at $5.00 each. The Catalogue will contain all of the entries for all of the Trials.
We're trying to make it simple. How many dogs did you want to enter? Multiply by 7 and put a $ sign in front of the answer. Write out the cheque. If you require additional catalogues, please let us know exactly how many you require and pay for them with the entry. You may also need to speak to the Secretary about other goodies such as Saturdays dinner, the overnight camping and other stuff. We need a separate payment - these are saparate from the Trial Keep it Simple, Pay separate.
Don't forget we prepare our own catalogues. As a consequence, we like to put little games and prizes into the production. Read the flamin' catalogue!!!! There might be something in it for you. While we're on the subject of catalogues - we rely on the information you give us. We also rely on volunteers to voluntarily type all of your data into something called the "com-puter" or something. Give us a break. If there is an error, we'd like to fix it for next year, but we can't be held responsible for the usual crop of accidental errors and omissions. If you have a complaint, refer to the section below on complaints..........

The magnificent Warragul and District Kennel and Obedience Club will look at instituting an "electronic catalogue" for the benefit of competitors.
Costs are ever spiralling upwards and if we can keep costs down, we can keep entry fees down. Do you have any idea how much it costs to produce a catalogue for each trial? Our ever vigilant, super, painstakingly fastidious, intelligent and handsome Treasurer says it's about a dollar sixty per dog per entry. ie if you enter a dog in 3 events per trial, and we have 4 Trials over the weekend, you just burned nearly 20 bucks for the privilege of having a nicely turned out catalogue with your doggies name in it. We regularly have people who enter more events than this example.
This year we want to experiment with an online catalogue. Click here to go to the CATALOGUE DOWNLOAD page. If you find it convenient and would like us to neglect to print a catalogue for you to pick up on the day TELL US. If we can save enough dosh and maybe only need to print sufficient numbers for the troglodytes amongst us, plus a few spares for the gooses that forget to bring theirs and want to buy one on the day, well......... the cost of the Trial may not immediately drop.......but we may be able to contain costs. It's up to you folks. Help us help you!!!!!!!
Note to self. Nobody called after last year. Hmmmmmmmm Maybe nobody cares about price increases. Ahhhhh well. Next year....Maybe.
Trophy and sash for First place.
Ribbons for second and third place.
Qualifying ribbons
Title Ribbons.
Special awards will be published in the catalogue, on the day, or published here on this website when available.
A special feeling of wellbeing from having competed in this Club's event!
Our sponsors products will feature heavily in the Trophy department.

Competitors may find it useful to know that there are a wide range of options available for staying near the Trial over the weekend.
Limited on-site camping facilities are available at our deluxe 6 star camping grounds and caravan park. Power, water, shower and toilet facilities are available. I understand Men have been walking into the Womens Showering facilities. No, No, No. Must not do this, the woman complain to the Secretary and then I have to deal with it. There are only a limited number of powered sites. They will be distributed on a first come best dressed basis. Contact the Trial Secretary to indicate your desire to camp at the centre of the Universe and make your booking. Cost is $12.00 per night for a powered site and $9.00 per night for a non-powered site. Please include payment with your entry. The camping fees go to the Grounds committee and help maintain and improve the Recreation Reserve facilities, ie - you get improved facilities from camping on site.
IMPORTANT NOTE - For those people who want to book a powered site.
If you're going to use our power, bring something suitable to connect up with. A 10 metre domestic extension lead is NOT adequate. You WILL BE more than 10 metres from the hook up point. Bank on it. Why don't you pop off to the hardware shop and buy one of those roll up leads about 30 metres long, with a power point on the end for you to plug into at the hot end, with an integral Earth Leakage device to keep you a bit safer. Remember, you'll be standing on the wet grass in the glorious morning dew, in your bare feet, when you pick up the 30 year old electric kettle you've relegated to the camping kit and which just happens to connect you up to mains power!!!!!! PLEASE. Have some forethought with the electric stuff. Play safe.
While we're on the subject.......We had a number of people last year complaining about power outages. Why do these occur? Because you draw too much current is why. WE ARE NOT A CARAVAN PARK. We are a Dog Club trying to make you comfortable. The power we provide comes from a 10 amp circuit. If you and 4 mates near you connect to that one circuit and you all decide to plug in your hair dryer, a toaster, the kettle and a 1000 Watt 3 bar radiator that Granny gave you in 1982, what do you think is going to happen. A 10 amp circuit will supply enough grunt for a single 1000 Watt radiator, a kettle, or maybe a hairdryer. All of the other appliances plugged in, like the TV set, the Wii, the foot spa, are all extras. Here's an idea, leave all the heavy current items at home and try to ration your power use. You will all love yourselves for it. No.....wait......I didn't mean that.........

Catering will be available on the grounds during the Trial. A Canteen will be operated by the Nilma-Darnum Football Club and a wide range of delicious fare is anticipated. Please support the Footy club with your patronage. Those who camp on site will find that waking to the smell of Bacon and Egg rolls being prepared is beyond description.
Your Dogs will enjoy a nice feed of our Sponsors Product. Go on. You know you want to!!!!!

The map below is a Warragul Dog Club production (PW Publishing (a wholly owned division of the Club)) and copyright is reserved. Darnum is a small Village, 8 Kilometres east of Warragul or 110 Km east of Melbourne. We are halfway between Melbourne and Sale. Travel time from Melbourne is a pleasant hour and a half's drive along the Princes Hwy and Freeway. Exit at Darnum and travel to the north - to the Shady Creek Road turn off, only a couple of hundred metres. Travel along Shady Creek Rd to the Darnum Recreation Reserve where you will find the West Gippsland Canine Centre situated. People coming from Gippsland will find the travelling even easier. Sale is a little over an hour away to the East.

The Trials set out herein are conducted by the Warragul and District Kennel an Obedience Club Inc under the auspices of the Victorian Canine Association Inc.

The Map of Darnum is based on an old map of the area with no ownership details marked. It was heavily modified by me, for use by the Club, with the inclusion of the road works which have replaced the old Highway with the new Freeway and all of the subsequent road re-alignments throughout Darnum. It doesn't look much like the original any more. I would give credit for that original art work, but I have no idea whose publication it was. If you recognise it as yours and you want to borrow the amended version back, go for your life. Please give us a credit (or some money), we're not fussy.
This site works with IE and Netscape Navigator. I have noticed some difficulties with Opera and Firefox. Worst case is that you have to manually scroll up and down the page to find the detail you are looking for. Too bad. Get a life.
Looks like the counter has failed again. Sich is life. (quote attributed to the famous Trialler Mr N. Kelly).
Make note to self - fix counter. (Yeah right)

Counter fixed. However........if you revisit us, it knows!!!!!!! It's watching and knows where you live. You only get counted the first time.
